Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

-- by Howard Thurman.

As Fit Kids Publishing's founder, I'd like to share my story with you…

I am a wife, mom, coach, entrepreneur, writer and now publisher. I have always lived my life by following my dreams and passions. I shoot for the moon and in my life have been lucky enough to on occasion land amongst the stars. And yes, sometimes I have failed. It’s been a wonderful ride!

As a child, running was my first love. I began running at the age of eight and quickly found I had a talent for it. I even became a national champion in my age group.

The following year in high school I learned I had ulcerative colitis. After 10 years of sickness, my family, doctors, and I decided it would be in my best interest to remove my colon. I still remember the feeling I had when I woke up from surgery, I was healthy again! Only a few months later I participated in my only marathon, walking most of it, taking over six hours to complete. It felt great!

I switched careers from accountant to personal trainer/coach. I loved it! My favorite was working with young athletes. It was awesome to see them get “it”. By "it" I don’t mean winning, but knowing it was their effort and believing in themselves that mattered.

With my health back I am again able to experience my love for running. Although I’m not a competitive runner as I once was, I still line up and enjoy the comradeship of my fellow runners in both road races and trail runs. Hugging my kids at the finish line always reminds me I am right where I should be on my journey.

On July 18th 2012 my daughter joined me for the first time for a run around our neighborhood block. That night for her bedtime story I recapped our run.  As I finished, I thought, that should be a book.

A few months later, My Favorite Run led to creating Fit Kids Publishing.

Wishing you and your family good health and fitness.
